Dear Fandom 5K Writer!
Friday, 2 April 2021 17:29Hello dear writer! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for offering one of my small fandoms, or rarepairs, or even both!
You can find me on AO3 as
derwent You can find past exchange letters here.
I'm just really happy that one of my fandoms get offered, so honestly, as long as you heed the DNWs and include my requested characters, I'll be excited about what you write!
But, if like me, you find prompts helpful as a starting point, I do have some suggestions. Feel free to take inspiration from them - or not! Some of the requests are shorter than the others, but that doesn't mean I want them any less. Also, most of my DNWs are more of the just-in-case variety -- not likely to come up, but just to be on the safe side. Feel free to write in unrequested characters or OCs if it would help the story.
If you have any questions or need clarification, please don't hesitate to reach me through the mods!

Eyeshield 21: Group: Yamato Takeru/Honjou Taka; Group: Shin Seijuurou/Sakuraba Haruto; Group: Hiruma Youichi & Takami Ichirou; Group: Hiruma Youichi & Maruko "Marco" Reiji
Requested Genres: Character Development; Canon-Style Plot - Freeform; Slice of Life; Getting Together; Established Relationship; Hurt/Comfort
DNW waiver: canon-style overcoming adversity is fine for this fandom.
ES21 is one of my first fandoms, and every couple of years I re-read and fall in love with the manga all over again. I have a weakness for minor characters and rarepairs, so the manga's basically catnip for me XD
Any setting (pre-, during, or post-canon) is welcome.

Given how faithful Peter Weir's film adaptation is, feel free to draw from the film as much as you want. You don't even have to be familiar with the book, I'll try to explain any book-specific details.
Fandom-specific DNW: anything to do with the tv series.
God, I love this book so much! Joan Lindsay's prose is gorgeous, vivid, and has this sense of inescapable doom hanging over everything and everyone. It's a major theme of the book: the overwhelming presence and power of nature (and destiny) over humans. In-universe meta is totally welcome for all requested characters.

Yamato Takeru/Honjou Taka:
- I just love these two! It'll be nice to explore their vastly different personalities - Yamato with his charm and extroversion, Taka with his introversion. And how they get together.
- Does Yamato ever talk about his feelings regarding Don's action (getting him kicked out from Notre Dame and erasing all traces of him) to Taka? How does Taka react?
Shin Seijuurou/Sakuraba Haruto:
- My Ojo OTP! I love how their relationship changes throughout the manga (Sakuraba's character arc is just *chef's kiss*).
- I'd love to see their life post-canon. Shin seems like he's got the chance to make it in NFL, what about Sakuraba?
Hiruma Youichi & Takami Ichirou:
- Their rivalries and mind games throughout the series is simply amazing and hilarious. And I love how it was Hiruma who stops everyone from intruding Takami's much-needed solitude after Ojo's defeat.
Hiruma Youichi & Maruko "Marco" Reiji
- Come on, they're basically mirrors of each other. Marco's quick switch from confident to panicky to confident again never fails to make me laugh. And I'm so annoyed by the lack of Hakushu Dinosaurs in the epilogue.
- So what does Marco do after high school? I'd love to see their paths cross again.

It's a major theme of the book: the overwhelming presence and power of nature (and destiny) over humans. In-universe meta is totally welcome for all requested characters.
Irma Leopold:
- She's this wealthy girl who's travelled all over the world, from her grandparents' mine in South America to Taj Mahal and somehow ends up in Appleyard College in Australia. I'd love to see more of her travels, whether pre or post canon.
- What breaks my heart is the fact that Irma always 'wanted above all things to see everyone happy with the cake of their choice'. And yet, she ends up being some sort of fate's plaything: her experience on the Rock, of course, but what's more is her being strangled by the red string to Michael. She takes one look at Michael and knows that he is the love of her life, and he haunts her for the rest of her life (it's sad, but in the book there's this line about how Michael's face comes up to her mind randomly, no matter that they never speak or see each other again after that summer). I'd love to see the effect of being fate's plaything on her, the helplessness and despair upon realising that she doesn't really have any control over herself/her life.
- At the epilogue it's stated she regularly gives interviews to doctors/psychiatrists/psychic researchers. I'd love to see these interviews - feel free to play with the format of the fic here, like interviews, or excerpts from fictional books, or whatever.
- The missing women. Why them? The book seems to imply that's because of their lack of sexuality - Irma has already shown some sensual appreciation, and Dianne has a fiance.
- Given how little we know about them, I feel like outsider POV, whether contemporary or from future generations, will be interesting.
- Irma being haunted (whether by real ghosts or by her memories/guilt).
Irma Leopold & Dianne de Poitiers:
- The book says that they never see each other again, but do they ever write to each other? AU where they do see each other again is welcome as well.
James Bond: Group: James Bond/Vesper Lynd; Group: James Bond/M | Gareth Mallory; Group: James Bond/M | Gareth Mallory/Q
Requested Genres: Established Relationship; Getting Together; Canon-Style Plot - Freeform; Slice of Life; Character Development; Action/Adventure; Hurt/Comfort
Fandom-specific DNWs:
- Q as Vesper's brother
- Dismissing Vesper's importance to Bond/vilifying her/dismissing their love as not real love (if writing Bond/M or Bond/M/Q. Not bringing her up at all is fine.)
- I just love Vesper so much. There's just not enough fics about them.
- AU where she lives and how it affects their story will be very welcome. But I also won't mind a fic exploring Bond's grief over her death.
- Two old soldiers in love! Being competent together!
- I'm a huge Ralph Fiennes fan, so anything that explores Mallory's past will be interesting.
- Crack: these two discussing suits and tailors. Or shopping for suits together. Or really anything involving the gorgeous suits they wear in the movies.
- Competence kink! Give me these three being the badass that they are!
Watchmen (2009): Janey Slater; Group: Silhouette/Nurse; Group: Dan Dreiberg/Adrian Veidt
Requested Genres: Worldbuilding; Character Development; Slice of Life; AU - Canon Divergence; Fix-it fic; Darkfic; Hurt/Comfort
If you want to incorporate details from the graphic novel, feel free to do so! But please keep the movie's characterisation for the requested characters.
Janey Slater:
- Does she survive the attack? How does she spend her last days?
- AU with Janey as Dr Manhattan. (DNW: issue fic is waived for this one)
Silhouette/Nurse:
- That photo! In-universe meta about the photo and its place in queer history. (DNW: issue fic is waived for this one)
- AU where they survive. Or maybe just one of them - how will they carry on with their life (can they?)
Dan Dreiberg/Adrian Veidt:
- Honestly, I'll take anything about this pairing.
