Dubois’s residence, night. Bridgette sits in front of the computer. Ariel’s face appears on the screen. Bridgette fidgets with the microphone.
Bridgette: Ariel, can you hear me? Ariel.
Ariel: (chuckles) Yes, Bridge, loud and clear. What’s up? (concerned) You look upset.
Bridgette: I am. (pauses) Remember when you met that dead guy in the library?
Ariel: The one who wanted me to delete the files from his wife’s laptop, or the one who used me to get mom arrested?
Bridgette: The first one.
Ariel: Yeah, what about him? Wait, did something like that happen to you?
Bridgette: (nods) Uh-huh. Thought he was cool, helping me with soccer. Turns out he just wanted us to face his old team so they can win.
Ariel: … Okay?
Bridgette: I mean, how do you know you can trust ‘em? They seemed nice, you feel bad because they’re dead, and you want to help them. But it turns out they just want to use you.
In the screen, Ariel shifts into a more comfortable position.
Ariel: Hey, why don’t you tell me the whole story from the beginning? I’m all ears.
Bridgette: You sure? It’s a long story. And I don’t know, maybe you have some important grown-up college stuff to do.
Ariel: Yeah, Bridge, I’m sure. (softly) Got nothing more important than this.
