He barely feels the cool water soothing his face. He can’t stop thinking about what the other (better) quarterbacks would do in his place.

What Takami lacks in physical strength he makes up for with a brilliant strategic mind. "Quick draw" Kid would simply pass the ball before that monster manages to get close. Hiruma? Most likely he’s been spying on Gaou since before the tournament even started and already comes up with a thousand different strategies.

Maybe they would have the upper hand, if the match took place in their home turf. Even someone like Gaou is not immune from the scorching heat, surely?

The door swings open. “It’s time,” Banba says simply. Harao examines Banba's face in the mirror: that steadfast calm expression. Tutankhamen’s mask, indeed. What a shame. He should be out there with a quarterback who knows what he’s doing.

But all Harao says is, “Yes.
