Pairing: Angelo Voiello/Sister Mary
Rating: G
Summary: As the star soccer player entertains the kids at Village of Goodness, Sister Mary and Voiello share a moment.
The soccer player – she remembered his name only long enough to introduce him – finished his motivational speech, picked up a ball, and began demonstrating tricks to the enthralled kids.
Someone sat down beside her on the bench. Without having to look, she knew it was Voiello. But she turned her gaze toward him all the same. As he watched the player, his eyes shone with the same awe seen in her kids.
She nudged him. “You can join them, you know. I bet they have shirts in your size.”
He huffed, but with none of the usual annoyance. “Do not joke, Sister Mary. What would people think?”
“But you posed in them for your book!”
“Aha!” He pointed a finger at her. “So you read them!”
She laughed, even as she rolled her eyes. “Of course I do.”
He was smiling now, a soft thing that betrayed his fondness for her.
“Thank you.” She nodded at the star player. “The kids love him.”
“The Holy Father thought it would do them good, especially after what happened during Sister Antonia’s time.”
“Of course,” she agreed. Then she added, playfully, “I’m sure it’s all for the kids, and not some elaborate excuse to see me.”
Voiello’s face turned bright red.
